Electricidad

Electricidad was my final undergraduate production that I designed at Florida International University. Electricidad is Luis Alfaro’s adaptation on Sophocles’s Electra, where it features a Mexican-American gang family that undergoes the same struggle for power.

One of the things we had decided on was the importance of tattoos on the actors. Together with the makeup designer, I came up with tattoo designs and we applied it with permanent markers and waterproof mascara. It worked really well.

This show received Honorable Mention at the 2009 SETC Undergrad Competition and was a KCACTF Costume Design. Due to its strong collaboration efforts in lighting, scenic, and costume design, it was also featured in the student exhibition at the 2011 Prague Quadrennial.
